Pandanus

320,00

A beautiful cooperplate engraving where the motive eminates from the centre of the plate and the leaves spread outwards. An impression of expansion bordering on the abstract, however a classical and very thourough study of a gigantic pandanus palmtree as observed by the artist at the Royal Brotanical Gardens of Kew in London. He spent  2 weeks portraying the plant, the mornings would be spent in the temperate house drawing in front of the plant, in the afternoon he would engrave the lines into the cooperplate with utmost precision.  An absolute masterpiece!
